Yu(Yukyeong Seo) defines herself as the artist and storyteller who traveling around the world.

She got inspired from everywhere: traveling, listening musics, reading books, watching TV shows, drinking beverages, and more. These inspirations are represented on one theme, DREAM.

She believes art can express more than just imagination. She likes to paint that can be interpreted by different people depending on the personal experience. There is no one specific answer about her artworks. Your imagination is part of her artwork.

Her academic background of liberal arts at St. John’s College thought her how to think and ask the questions to the others; how to express her ideas on her artworks. Her deep considerations of communication influenced on how she introduces her artworks. Like how she opens her small world through shelf-sharing bookstores in Korea.

아티스트이자 스토리텔러로 스스로를 정의내린 유(서유경)는 세상을 여행하며 그림을 그립니다.

일상의 모든 순간에서 영감을 받아 이야기를 만들고 그림으로 이를 표현해냅니다. 여행, 음악 감상, 독서, 드라마 시청, 차와 커피 그리고 술 등을 마실 때도 그녀는 영감을 받습니다. 그리고 이런 영감들은 “꿈”이라는 하나의 테마안에서 표현됩니다.

유에게 있어서 예술이란 단순한 상상 그 이상을 표현할 수 있는 것입니다. 그렇기에 개인의 경험에 따라 해석이 달라지는 그림을 그리며 작품에 대한 작가의 생각을 제한적으로 제공하는 것을 선호합니다. 유의 작품에는 정해진 답이 없습니다. 작품을 관람하는 여러분의 상상이 언제나 유의 작품을 완성 시키는 마지막 열쇠입니다.

유는 미국 세인트 존스 칼리지에서 리버럴 아츠를 전공하며 세상 속에서 어떻게 생각하고 질문하는지, 그리고 이런 생각을 어떻게 그림으로 표현하며 사람들과 소통하는지에 대하여 배웠습니다. 소통에 대한 깊은 고뇌와 고찰이 현재 유가 다양한 방식으로 자신의 그림을 소개하는데 큰 영향을 미쳤습니다. 한국의 공유형 서점을 통해 자신의 세계를 소개하게 된 것도 그 중 하나입니다.
